Subtitling

Service Flow

01
Checking schedule and style guide
We provide a quotation including the price and schedule information based on a delivery time and workload. We also check Chinese characters, or Kanji, that can be used in the subtitles and the rules of declensional kana ending.
02
Spotting and
text chunking
By determining the spots and the number of seconds for subtitles to appear, the number of characters in 1 line of subtitle are decided. 4 characters in 1 second is one of the basic rules.
03
Subtitle translation
Only the media translators who met our strict criteria are assigned to translator positions. Well-chosen translators will be appointed based on deadlines, budgets and expertise.
04
Proofreading
This is why we are highly trusted by our customers. We make sure to provide proofreading service twice for any job, regardless of how close the deadline is or how low the budget is. Keeping high quality is our priority.
05
Delivering
subtitle data
Subtitle data is usually delivered in an SDB file format. Other formats such as Excel, SRT (for YouTube) and NAB (for broadcast television) are also available.

-We usually try to avoid a relay-style translation where one production is divided into blocks (e.g. 10 minute units) and translated by multiple translators to save time. We arrange for one translator to handle one production to bring out the best out of it. For TV drama series, it is possible to assign different translator for each episode.
